Northumberland County Council has launched a new ‘Discover our Land’ campaign to shine a light on the county as somewhere to visit, to raise a family, to build a career and to establish, invest and grow a business.

Encouraging start-ups, business growth and international trade in Northumberland is one of the key aims of the campaign, which will showcase some of the county’s leading businesses to inspire more entrepreneurs to create jobs and economic prosperity.  This exciting new campaign will issue a rallying cry to inspire people to be part of Northumberland’s story, as told by the people who know it best - those that are proud to live, work, visit or invest here.  Read more.

Do you want to have a role in progressing the development and direction of Northumberland VCS Assembly?

Unfortunately as a result of ill health, Norman Dunn has resigned from his position as Executive Committee member representing North Northumberland and we are now seeking a replacement.  Could you take on this role?

All nominees must be Assembly members.  Members can nominate themselves or be nominated by other Assembly members, with their permission of course. We are also keen for younger Assembly members to put themselves forward.

Members of the Assembly Executive Committee have a responsibility to represent the VCSE and not just represent their organisation.  Committee meetings are usually held four times a year. A proportion of the Committee also attend Northumberland County Council’s VCS Liaison Group which meets quarterly and is held at different venues across the county. On occasion members may be asked to participate in working groups on issues.

Travel expenses are paid to Committee members.  Members hold office for a minimum of two years (this is dependent on funding which is currently only available until March 2019).

If you are interested in the role and would like more details, please do not hesitate to contact Ann Atkinson at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or call 01670 858688.

Nominations must be received by 8th February 2019.

Community Energy England is requesting members of community energy organisations to complete their State of the Sector 2019 survey, which is being conducted in partnership with Scene, an UK-based community renewable energy consultancy.

The research investigates the number, nature, and outcomes of community energy throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  It will help influence government policy over the next 12 months and raise awareness of the importance of community energy.  The research will also feed into the ongoing work of Community Energy England and Community Energy Wales, supporting and aiding communities to develop their own low carbon projects.

The survey is aimed at community energy organisations involved in low carbon activities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This includes electricity and heat generation, energy storage, low carbon transport, energy efficiency, demand management and wider low carbon initiatives.

Find out more and take part in the survey.
